Intro to Azure Resources

  • Resources are objects used to manage services in Azure
  • Represent service lifecycle
  • Saved as JSON definition
  • Each resource can be in one and only one Resource Group
  • Resources in Resource Groups can reside in different locations

The following properties are common across all resources:

  • Type
  • APIVersion
  • Name
  • Location

Always need to create Resource Group (Free) to add resources to.

Resource Groups

  • Container for all azure resources
  • Used to manage resources
  • Resource Groups have there own location assigned
  • Resource groups cannot be nested
  • resources.azure.com
  • Azure Resource Manager is centralized management layer for all resources and resource groups
